Reducing plastic
The entire Matilda’s family has embarked upon a journey to reduce the amount of plastic used throughout the business and our personal lives. We’re not perfect, but that’s where we aim to be.
Recycling
We believe in recycling so strongly that we ran a competition across our national facilities to come up with ingenious ideas to reduce waste material using recycling. With £2000 up for grabs our employees got their creative juices flowing. As a result we now recycle cut offs to create wall filling and building blocks.
We also make a conscious effort to make sure all waste materials are disposed of correctly and recycled.
Smarter Deliveries
Once we cut your blanket to size, we load them onto our brand new fleet of the most fuel efficient fleet of vans that adhere to LEZ and ULEZ standards. We also make every effort to drive fewer miles. The blanket system comes with all the fixtures and fittings required by the installers in a complete box set. It helps us make 600 fewer trips a year!
Using less energy
We are adding energy saving measures throughout the business bit by bit. We have begun by upgrading the lighting with LED technology. The next stage includes installing energy management systems that control our lights, heating and air conditioning, to energy-efficient kitchen equipment and motion sensitive lighting. It may not seem like much but at the end of the day all these small changes add up to make a significant change.
Supporting local jobs:
- We care about our people and our communities. That’s why we support jobs all over the United Kingdom.
- We have manufacturing facilities in England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.
- We function with the amazing work carried out by our skilled factory operators, fully certified installers, dedicated facility managers, punctual distributers, motivated sales personnel and everyone in between.
Saving the Planet
40% of UK emissions come from households.
This figure can be slashed in half if homes are insulated and heated correctly, that’s exactly what we’ve set out to do. We’re on a mission to eradicate fuel poverty, reduce carbon emissions and save the planet.
Social Enterprise
Since we’re a social enterprise any profit that we make is ploughed in to the David Evans Grass Roots Foundation to help fund some great initiatives for young children. The David Evans Grass Roots Foundation believes that every child in the UK should have access to a well-rounded education. A well-rounded education has the potential to transform individuals and society and encourage community engagement.
